Ray Dalio the CEO of one of the largest hedge funds in the world, Bridgewater Associates, he is also considered one of the most successful hedge fund managers. He has been a pundit with all things within the investment world and rightly so, with this he has been critical of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin so it would seem from the other Bitcoin maximalist throughout the internet. I thought I would dig into this and findout for myself if in fact Ray Dalio was anti-Bitcoin and what I found was further away from what I had been reading across the web. This just goes to the adage associated within the crypto-sphere…, Do Your Own Reasearch or DYOR… This is just as true with Ray’s position on Bitcoin as well. Yes through the article he not a Bitcoin cheerleader but nether is he completely discounting it. The first sentence of the second paragraph he specifically states.
“To reiterate, as I am not a Bitcoin/cryptocurrency expert, I believe my views are not valuable enough to be relied on so I shouldn’t put them out.”
This to me at least shows he knows he doesn’t know everything there is about Bitcoin and through the article he states he’s more that willing to listen to and or be corrected within his current understanding. Yes, I am a Bitcoin maximalist I believe it will be the penicillin that will cure our fiat disease. I believe Bitcoin is going to change our, no the worlds monetary system and for the better, but I do understand that we all have our points of view and if the head of the largest hedge fund feels an obligation to provide his prospective I will listen to what he has to say, obviously he know a few things about the world of finance and it would behoove even the maximalists to give Ray the space to provide his perspective.
I believe Ray is be pragmatic about Bitcoin the good thing is the fact that one of the largest and most successful hedge fund managers is talking about and looking at Bitcoin, this is a good thing. I have left a link to the original article from the Bridgewater site.
